Calgary Pride Parade Details

Good day fabulous union people, and thank you for joining in on the fun! We are excited that Calgary Pride is right around the corner!

We now have our float details and are ready to share the final details you need to know to help make our support for Calgary Pride a fantastic success!

Our float will be in section H7-2, on 9th Ave and along 7th Street SW. See the section of the map below, highlighted in red.

Parking is going to be challenging, so we advise people to try to take public transit to the event. The closest C-Train station to our staging area is the 8th Street SW Station

If you have a Pride shirt from previous years, please remember to bring it, and if you need one, please come to the float, where we will have people handing out Pride shirts to those that have requested it in the survey.

The parade starts at 11 am sharp and will not wait for anyone.

Extra hands make light work, so if you would like to help with setting up/decorating the float, please come to the staging area at 9 am.

If you can’t make it there that early, we ask that all other participants be at the float no later than 10:30 am.

Calgary Pride is a family-friendly event. Please note the following:

  1. There is no stopping on the parade route unless stopped by the parade officials.
  2. Only vehicles in the parade are permitted in the staging area. As many parade participants will need to bring in supplies and equipment for their floats, parking will be nearly non-existent. As such, we recommend alternate means to get to the staging area.
  3. We are giving away mini frisbees and Pride pins – The parade rules forbid THROWING OBJECTS SUCH AS FRISBEES. Don’t do it.
  4. The weather channel suggests it will be a beautiful day, so please ensure that you bring a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle.

At the end of the parade, if you can, please help us pack up the float and, afterwards, take the time to enjoy the festival a mere two blocks from the parade finish at Fort Calgary. Details for the parade and the booths after can be found HERE. There will be a variety of performers, food trucks, kid-friendly activities, a vendor marketplace, and a beer garden.
