Applications Are Open for AFL/CLC Winter School 2027!

The Alberta Federation of Labour and the Canadian Labour Congress are putting on their annual Winter School, and we want to know if you would like to attend!

This year marks the 75th anniversary of a long-time staple of labour education! The AFL and CLC have been running the school for three quarters of a century, energizing and educating its participants with the skills we need to build better workplaces and a better world! The Winter School is a great opportunity to share knowledge and connect with labour activists from across Alberta, strengthening our skills and our movement.

Your union will be sending a limited number of delegates to Winter School, which is set to take place at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge from January 10-15, 2027. Those delegates will have the opportunity to choose from ten dynamic courses and enjoy opportunities to network through a range of social activities.

You can click here for more information about Winter School 2027.

If you’d like to look over the course brochure, follow this link.

Local 401 members who have attended the Winter School in the past have commented on the meaningful and valuable nature of the experience, on how much they learned, and on the many ways they have been able to take that information and use it to empower their fellow workers in the workplace.

The deadline for applications is November 2, 2026. Applicants should not register directly with the AFL until they have received confirmation of selection from UFCW Local 401. Remember that applying doesn’t guarantee selection; only selected delegates will be contacted.
