This is the process for making the switch to UFCW Local 401. For more information, contact us.
We believe that a strong union comes from being upfront and clear with each other. We are stronger when we are united.
If you want to find out more about our plan to win at Maple Leaf, come and see us anytime during the following times:
FRIDAY, JULY 12, 2019
1:30PM – 6:00 PM
SATURDAY, JULY 13, 2019
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Radisson Conference and Convention Centre
4520 76 Ave NW, Edmonton
The decision to change is yours. It’s not your current union’s decision and not your employer’s decision. Employees shouldn’t feel pressured to sign or not sign a petition card to join our union.
We are only signing petition cards outside the workplace. The best chance to do this is during one of our open house meetings on July 12 and 13 above.
Building a better life through your union depends not on a few people but on everybody. In order to be your union, at least 40% of eligible Maple Leaf employees must sign a petition card. But we will need to show Maple Leaf that we are a strong and united membership that knows what it wants. We need your help. Talk to a co-worker about signing an official UFCW Local 401 Certification Petition.
Once we have applied for certification, the Alberta Labour Relations Board will likely hold a vote of all Maple Leaf employees. If a majority of voters (50%+1) vote YES, UFCW Local 401 will become your union.
But this is just a minimum. The level of our strength and unity is very important for negotiations with the company.
