After an impressive 32 year career at Safeway, active union member Cheryl is excited to start a new chapter with her retirement. Her plans don’t involve a lot of relaxation. Instead, she plans on keeping active and perhaps even taking on a part-time job to keep her involved in the social scene.
“My husband doesn’t want me to go back to work, but I may pick up a part-time job a couple days a week because it will get me meeting new people,” she tells us. “I love conversing and learning new things everyday.”
She does plan, however, to take the summer off to spend time with loved ones, camping, boating, spending time in the garden, cooking, baking, and canning.
“I’m never bored and keep myself very busy spending time with my grown kids and spending time with family and friends,” she says. “I love entertaining – partying, singing, dancing, playing all kinds of games, cards, Sudoku puzzles and the like.”
Cheryl also loves to volunteer and has sat on her daughter’s school parent council for many years. Being active in her community is very important to her.
“I love talking to anyone – old or young and I love hearing stories about the old days from older folks as well as stories from the younger generation.”
This is an impressive list of activities to do in your retirement, Cheryl. We couldn’t be happier to hear of all your new and exciting plans. You will be missed and we are grateful for your membership in UFCW 401 and for your involvement and interest in attending votes and meetings over all these years. Congratulations!
