Harnoor Singh – Scholarship

A hearty congratulations to Harnoor for his winning application for one of only two Robert McWilliams Memorial $2500 scholarships!

Currently pursuing MET (Mechanical Engineering Technology) Diploma at SAIT, he has a deep passion for mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Through his first two semesters he learned SolidWorks, a design-based skill, and is currently pursuing Design and Analysis as a major in MET.

“As an international student, my journey has been shaped by academic excellence and diverse experiences,” Harnoor shares. “Though Canada has bought various hardship, I embrace the challenges ahead with enthusiasm so I can make my parents proud and bring a bright and promising future.”

After graduation he plans to open and grow a successful and reputable mechanic shop to help the community meet their automotive needs by ensuring proficiency in using cutting-edge tools like SolidWorks to be able to offer innovative services for his clients. He also has plans to design and build an environmentally friendly car wash!

“I would like to take a moment to express my profound gratitude to UFCW Local 401 for awarding me this scholarship,” Harnoor says. “The support and opportunities provided by the union are not just financial aids; they represent a commitment to education and the empowerment of individuals and I am deeply inspired by the union’s dedication to advocating for workers’ rights and fostering a strong community.”

We thank you both for your membership and interest in your union and your application to this scholarship, Harnoor. You earned this win! Congratulations and we wish you all the success in the world in your lofty goals!
