After 16 years at the McKesson warehouse, union activist and Shop Steward Yvonne is looking forward to a well-earned retirement.
Yvonne’s contributions to her workplace are many. An active Steward, she also walked the picket line during their 66 day strike in 2010. At work, she was know to regularly help her fellow UFCW 401 members with questions about their rights, issues they were having at work, and teaching them about how to understand and navigate their Collective Agreement. She can also boast being a Steward when she was a member of both AUPE and CUPE!
From the sounds of her plans, she will continue to be very busy in retirement. She tells us she will be spending time enjoying culinary adventures, including baking and diving into some Ukrainian and Vietnamese delights. She is also very crafty and looks forward to getting into some sewing and crocheting to make blankets for abused children.
Your retirement is shaping up to be an adventure indeed, Yvonne! We will miss you and your advocacy, but we know your big heart and community spirit is needed elsewhere now and we’re thrilled you’re on your way to your new chapter. Solidarity, friend. We wish you all the very best.
