Edmonton, AB – May 21, 2019. Agropur Cooperative Ice Cream members have ratified by 78% a five-year extension to their current union contract.
The Company proposed to our bargaining team a commitment to investing twenty million dollars into the Edmonton facility to secure customer contracts, expand storage, and upgrade equipment. The commitment required, however, that the union contract be extended to guarantee labour peace and provide security.
Two years were remaining on the current contract, so the new agreement includes the increases due in the two years remaining of the contract as well as an 11% percent increase over the newly agreed five year period.
The new deal also has a guarantee on fulltime jobs through to the expiry of the extended agreement.
Thanks and congratulations to the committee and all those involved through this process!
