Alsco Improves Their Offer

Alsco members have sent a strong and united message that they are willing to fight for a fair deal. Alsco has responded with an improved, and what we feel is a fair offer, which is being recommended by your union negotiating committee.

“The membership’s 100% rejection of the company’s last offer sent a strong message to the employer that they had missed the mark,” said Chris O’Halloran Executive Director for UFCW Local 401. “When they voted 100% in favour of joining the National Defence Fund, that also showed they were willing to fight for a fair offer.”

Improvement for Drivers

The employer has removed their 20% roll back on the base salary for RSR and increased the percentage payment for COG commission to 7%. They have also reduced the co-pay on benefits to 15%, a change that will save members with family coverage around $50.00 per pay cheque.

Additionally, Shuttle Drivers and Route Relief Utility Drivers will see a new wage scale that can take them to $29.77 by the end of the contract.

Transparency on Commission

Drivers will also see language that will allow the union to verify and ensure they receive the 5% increase in their clients’ contacts each year.

“Ensuring that RSR receive their increase in pay when the company receives an increase in revenue is a huge win for the members,” continued O’Halloran. “It is also important to remember that the discrepancies over pay can be address through the grievance procedure that is legally binding.”
