ALSCO: We’ve Seen Progress in Early Bargaining

Our bargaining committee has wrapped up the initial meeting with ALSCO, kicking off contract negotiations.

Both union and employer exchanged first drafts of proposals, and over the course of two days we made great progress in incorporating improvements to the day-to-day rights members enjoy.

You can see your union’s ingoing proposals by clicking here.

We’ve reached tentative agreements on improvements for the following topics:

  • Early Starts
  • Employee Rights
  • Union Security and Membership
  • Reductions to the Probationary Period
  • Improved language for Health and Safety, as well as Labour Management Meetings
  • Greater clarity on payroll calculations and information
  • Representation within the workplace
  • Duty to Accommodate

Both sides also discussed issues relating to routes, workload, disciplines and policies affecting members.

We will meet again on January 20th, 21st, and 22nd after the holidays to continue and hopefully wrap up the non-monetary discussions. Once that is done, we will move forward with the monetary proposals the committee has put together and continue to seek improvements in wages, benefits, and other matters of great importance to our members and their families.
