Bargaining Update – IUOE Bargaining Gets Rolling

On Feb 6th, your UFCW Local 401 bargaining committee met with your employer, IUOE, to exchange bargaining proposals. We met again on Feb 26th to discuss improving your union contract.

As you know, your proposals are collected mainly from the membership through surveys and meetings. Those suggestions are put into proposal language and presented to your employer in a document. (See your union proposal document here)

“Every step of this process is about ensuring your voices are heard and respected. We remain unwavering in our commitment to securing a fair agreement that recognizes your invaluable work. Our membership’s strength and solidarity guide us daily, and we look forward to achieving the contract improvements you deserve.” – Thomas Hesse, UFCW 401 President

The employer also brought proposals, which they presented to us. (see the employer proposal document here)

Our first day of talks went well enough. We achieved tentative agreements on a few non-monetary proposals, such as grievance, arbitration, and temporary employment. We also had productive conversations on several other key issues.

“At the heart of these negotiations is our commitment to you, your families, and the communities we call home. Fair wages and equitable treatment do more than strengthen the workplace—they create a ripple effect that enhances the well-being of everyone around us. Thank you for standing with us as we shape a better world together.” – Richelle Stewart, Secretary-Treasurer, UFCW 401

Please watch for further updates regarding bargaining, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your bargaining committee or Dee Mae Beler at dbeler@ufcw401.ab.ca or 780-452-0362 (Ext. 1319).

Sincerely,

Your Union Bargaining Committee
