Bayshore Progress Update & Holiday Conversation Guide

As we approach the holiday season, we have important progress to share: Bayshore has agreed to begin bargaining an Essential Services Agreement (ESA) with your union. The ESA establishes your legal right to strike – a fundamental tool in achieving fair working conditions.

With family gatherings ahead, many of you might be discussing your work situation with loved ones. Here’s how you can share your story and invite their support:

Share Your Story

  • Talk about what drew you to caregiving and what you love about supporting your clients
  • Explain how better working conditions mean better care for clients
  • Share that we’re making progress – the company has agreed to negotiate an ESA

How Family and Friends Can Help
The most potent way your loved ones can support you is by sending a letter to:

  • Minister of Health Adriana Lagrange
  • Strathmore MLA Chantelle de Jonge
  • Bayshore Management

We’ve made it easy. You can use our handy tool here!

Key Message for Holiday Conversations

“Care work is skilled work that deserves fair treatment. When caregivers are supported, clients receive better care. It’s that simple.”

Remember: You’re not just asking for support – you’re inviting loved ones to be part of improving healthcare in our community. Every signature strengthens our position at the bargaining table.

“The holiday season reminds us of our shared humanity and the connections that bind us. Our Bayshore members embody this spirit throughout the year – they are the ones who bring warmth, care, and dignity into the homes of vulnerable Albertans every single day. While many of us gather with family during the holidays, Bayshore workers remain there for their clients, ensuring no one is left alone. Their dedication deserves our gratitude and our commitment to ensuring they receive the respect and working conditions that reflect the essential nature of their care work.” – Tom Hesse, President and Richelle Stewart, Secretary-Treasurer UFCW Local 401
