Building and strengthening a progressive workplace at Superstore

Your Superstore Bargaining Committee will be heading back into negotiations with the Company on September 21-25, 2020.

To date, negotiations have been positive and progressive. Your Bargaining Committee has had a productive dialogue with Loblaws around a number of essential issues for Superstore members. Those conversations have resulted in meaningful agreement on important language that moves us closer to securing a fair contract through bargaining.

In the upcoming round of negotiations, we will be discussing discipline and discharge with the Company.

It is your Bargaining Committee’s view that the purpose of discipline should be to correct problematic behaviour and should not be punitive. That is the hallmark of a progressive workplace, which is what we are aiming to strengthen at Superstore.

Your Bargaining Committee will be proposing language that addresses the following concerns with a view toward a more sensible and solutions-oriented relationship into the future:

  • Management Rights
  • Discipline and Discharge
  • Customer Complaints and Abuse
  • Sunset Clause
  • Burden of Proof
  • Transparent and Fair Labour Relation
  • Surveillance Equipment
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Grievance Procedure
  • Mediated Settlements

Based on experiences to date, your Bargaining Committee is confident that we will be able to secure agreement on these issues that will benefit Superstore members and enhance your working conditions.

As always, your attention to and engagement with negotiations is a vital part of our success. When we speak with a collective and unified voice at the bargaining table, we are able to secure meaningful victories for all Superstore workers in Alberta.

Please continue to read updates as they are sent out and check your union’s social media channels for further information that will keep you up to date on all developments.
