Canada Malting Bargaining: We Need Your Feedback

It is essential that all employees attend one of the following meetings:

Thursday, May 26, 2022, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. or

Friday, May 27, 2022, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

at the Glenmore Inn (1000 Glenmore Court S.E.).

The primary purpose of these meetings with the Canada Malting membership is to discuss the status of negotiations with the company about the possible implementation of a ‘four (4) days on, five (5) days off (or 4×5) schedule for the Maintenance and Operator classifications. The membership asked your bargaining team to propose this type of scheduling system, and we need to provide an update on those talks and gather feedback before heading back into bargaining at the end of June.

Also, to be discussed is the union dues increase that was approved when Local 1118 members were merged with Local 401. This dues increase will be implemented as a part of this collective agreement. For more information on why union dues increases are necessary, check out this link.
