April 11, 2022. The Canada Malting Collective Agreement is up for renewal. We will hold union proposal meetings in advance of bargaining at the UFCW 401 office (46 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary) at the following dates/times:
Local 401 members at Canada Malting received a bargaining survey several weeks ago. The survey showed that many folks at Canada Malting are interested in being a part of their union bargaining committee, which is fantastic!
The proposal meetings on April 19 and April 21 are yet another way to ensure that everyone’s ideas and suggestions for the new contract are presented before meeting with the Employer.
Your Collective Bargaining Agreement allows up to five employees to be a part of the union committee. Five employees are a slightly larger than typical-sized group for a workforce of approximately sixty total workers. The larger-sized group is ideal for having diverse member representation. A unique aspect of your union contract is that the Employer pays for the time-off to attend bargaining for three of the five union committee members making this even more tenable.
The following members have been selected from across the different departments and classifications in the workplace:
We will be meeting with the Employer very soon. We have set the following dates for negotiations:
We are very hopeful everyone can attend at least one of the proposal meetings on the 19th or 21st. I look forward to working on a new union contract for the Canada Malting Membership.
