Text Box: Picketing supplies continue to arrive! Then, the strike vote will be held on June 5th and 6th at Holiday Inn & Suites Calgary Airport North, 20 Freeport PIace NE, Calgary, AB from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

We know a strong Yes Vote is important to send a message to Cargill that they need to improve their offer, guarantee workers the hours they need to survive and fix the problems with overtime.

We also know that our members and the Union need to prepare for a long and protracted strike. One of the ways we do is this through the Local 401 Hardship Fund.

Local 401 will establish a Hardship Fund for Cargill Case-Ready picketers in the event of a protracted dispute. A Hardship Fund Committee will also be established if the strike lasts a long time. Those with unique hardships arising directly from picketing can appeal by application to that Committee – made up of Union representatives and Case-Ready employees – who will determine the merit of hardship applications.

Striking always involves some economic sacrifices, but UFCW Local 401 is committed to working with our members to mitigating hardship and ensure your economic survival.

Remember to Vote Yes on June 5 and 6. If you are not able to make it out to vote, please let us know so we can see how we can help. If you have any questions, please contact Devin (e-mail:, cell: 403-680-4184) or Noah (e-mail:
