Following in-person voting last Thursday and Friday, and an online vote on Saturday, members at Civeo Beaver River Executive Lodge have voted to reject the proposed collective agreement.
The results send a clear message: members expect more from their employer.
After more than three years of wage freezes, members are looking for meaningful wage increases that recognize their hard work and the rising cost of living. The proposed wage increases fall short of those expectations, and the lack of retroactive pay to the expiry of the collective agreement in March remains a significant concern.
Members have also expressed frustration with the employer’s unwillingness to improve benefits that support their health and well-being. Working 20 consecutive days can take a physical toll, and members have been clear about the importance of having access to massage therapy or a health spending account to support their rest and recovery.
The membership has spoken, and your union will continue to advocate for the improvements you deserve.
Following the rejection of the proposed agreement, UFCW Local 401 will be applying for mediation to assist in reaching a fair and reasonable settlement. Through this process, a government-appointed mediator can assist both parties in working toward an agreement that better addresses members’ priorities.
You can learn more about the mediation process by watching an informative video on our YouTube channel.
We want to thank everyone who participated in the ratification vote and made their voices heard. Your participation is an important part of the bargaining process and helps guide the work of your bargaining committee.
We remain committed to standing with Civeo Beaver River Executive Lodge members as we continue working toward a collective agreement that recognizes their contributions and addresses their concerns.
We will continue to keep you informed as the mediation process moves forward. If you have any questions, please reach out to Matt Gilks at [email protected] (or by phone at 587-990-2004).
In solidarity,
Your Union
