CARGILL CASE READY: FILL OUT OUR PRICING INFORMATION SURVEY

As we get ready for possible job action, we’re asking our Cargill Case-Ready members to track the prices and price increases you’re seeing for the product Cargill Case-Ready produces.

We are also asking the entire UFCW Local 401 membership to start tracking the price increases they are seeing in retail grocery stores.

Click this link to find our online form.

This is your tool for contributing to the Union’s knowledge base about pricing, which will be crucial for us at the negotiating table.

Members from any of our workplaces will be able to submit information about prices, or about price increases, as they come across examples they can capture on their phones.

The form also requires the uploading of images. We need pictures of receipts, or price tags, that can prove our information is accurate to Cargill at the negotiating table.

“We already know that far too many of our members are struggling to buy the basics,” said Chris O’Halloran, Executive Director at UFCW Local 401. “Or to buy the very products that wouldn’t exist without their labour.”

UFCW Local 401 is acting in solidarity with the striking Cargill workers of UFCW Local 175 in Ontario!

O’Halloran added: “Being able to make that case clearly, with direct evidence to support us, is an important tool for putting pressure on Cargill in negotiations.”

President Thomas Hesse of UFCW Local 401 said: “We have now advised Sobey’s and Loblaw, who operate Safeway, Sobey’s, Real Canadian Superstore and others, that in the event of a strike they should immediately stop selling Cargill product.”

“We’ve also told them that if they continue to do business with Cargill, they could face secondary picketing and leafleting outside their grocery stores,” added President Hesse.

UFCW Local 401 thanks our membership in advance for their contributions to this important effort. There is no limit to the number of times you can submit pricing information and updates using the online form linked above.
