Frustration Over Hazard Pay

Superstore Bargaining Update:
Your Union is Fighting for You Every Step of the Way

May 7, 2021 – Your UFCW Local 401 Superstore bargaining committee met with the company May 3-6th. The focus of this week’s negotiations was Union Recognition and Security. To learn more about the previous week of negotiations, click HERE

Your bargaining committee was joined by several other members this week, who were able to see first-hand how negotiations are progressing. Any member is welcome to join negotiations as an observer – just email ufcw@ufcw401.ab.ca and ask to be added to our participation list.

“We are moving closer to a new contract for Superstore members in Alberta,” says Chris O’Halloran, lead Superstore negotiator and Executive Director for UFCW Local 401. “The union is having to fight for every improvement, no matter how big or small, but we are committed to securing gains for the members and enhancing union rights at Superstore.”

Your union’s committee also took time this week to call and text Superstore members and shop stewards from across the province to provide them with updates on negotiations.

“We called every Shop Steward at Superstore over the last few days, because we believe it’s important to keep members informed during negotiations,” O’Halloran tells us. “Members should reach out to their Stewards, or contact their Union Labour Relations Officer, if they have any questions regarding Superstore negotiations.”

Your committee is back at the bargaining table with Superstore the week of June 21-25th.

In Solidarity,
