Gate Gourmet: We’ve Secured an Improved Offer – Time to Vote!

After our meeting with you late last year, and the completion of mediation with the Company last Friday, we have secured an improved offer! We are holding ratification meetings and votes early next week.

We know that an increase in wages is fundamental to addressing the affordability crisis we all find ourselves in, so with that in mind, please note the following changes:

  • General Kitchen Help will receive a wage increase of 4% in the first year, 3.5% in the second year, and 3.5% in the third year, which will see increases to your salary over the life of a new collective agreement.
  • All other staff will receive 3% per year, and those over-scaled employees will receive the 3% as well, but a reduced differential – instead of a deduction of 25 cents per hour, now it will only be 10 cents, which means your wage increase will be greater than what was offered last year!

Sometimes companies like to save money by taking benefits from one place, to put them somewhere else, but we made sure to keep all the other benefits – including increases to the RRRSP, eyeglasses benefits and clothing allowance – in the Company Offer.

As your Union, we believe in fairness and an improved living standard for all our members. We know the process has been longer than expected, but we have made sure to keep the Company aware of your needs by fighting for better terms for you!

The ratification meeting and votes for all Gate Gourmet members will be held:

In-person on Monday, March 18th
Meetings at 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Voting from 1:30 – 6:00 p.m.
At the Coast Nusku Inn
(1101 4th Street, Nisku, AB)


Online on Tuesday, March 19th
Starting at 12:00 p.m.
