IHAC members reject Company’s offer

The I Have a Chance union membership has rejected the Company’s offer by a vote of 54%. (See the attached offer here)

We have informed the Company of the membership’s decision, and the Union negotiating committee will be meeting in the next few days to discuss options for our next steps.

The following steps could involve:

Proceeding to Mediation, this process entails a neutral third party assisting the union and the employer in reaching an agreement. A mediator does not decide an issue. Instead, the mediator helps the parties to clarify their positions and reach a compromise (for more information on Mediation, check out this video).

Or, we could return to the bargaining table to see if the Company will improve their offer. Like a decisive strike vote, a rejected ratification vote can motivate an employer to look deeper in their pockets as they try to come to grips with operating through a picket line.
