CARGILL CASE READY: PICKET PREPARATIONS CONTINUE!
Thanks to everyone who signed up to be a leader and a picket Captain! The response was so amazing that we had to break the group into two separate classes.
You should have received a letter from the Union requesting you get time off work with pay for one of the classes.
Both classes will be held at UFCW 401’s Calgary office at 46 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary, Alberta. The first class will be on June 3rd, and the second class will be on June 4th. Each class will start at 9:00 am and wrap up around 4:00 pm, and lunch will be provided.
It is also important that everyone attend the strike vote preparation meeting at 3:00 pm on June 2nd at The Best Western Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre, 1316 33 Street NE, Calgary, Alberta. We will be there to answer all of your questions that we can.
It will be equally as important that you Vote Yes during the strike vote on June 5th and 6th. The strike vote will be held at Holiday Inn & Suites Calgary Airport North, 20 Freeport PIace NE, Calgary, AB from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
This will be a big week to show Cargill they need to improve their offer, guarantee workers the hours they need to survive, and fix the problems with overtime.
Stay strong, Vote Yes, and then let’s get back to the bargaining table with Cargill knowing that there will be real repercussions if they choose not to give the workers at Case-Ready the fair contract they deserve.
