Quiet Rooms at Superstore

 We’d like to respectfully cheer about making Quiet Rooms a reality! 

Your Union is leading the way when it comes to diversity and inclusion in the labour movement. We recognize and value that UFCW Local 401 members come from many different backgrounds. We have also made sure that UFCW 401 is represented on national and international committees to advance diversity and inclusion in our workplaces and communities.  

That includes at Superstore, where your Bargaining Committee has now successfully negotiated for the creation of Quiet Rooms for members. The employer has agreed and it is now set to become a reality! 

The Quiet Rooms can be used for meditation, prayers, or individual private time, among other purposes. Superstore has told us that most stores have enough space for the creation of Quiet Rooms. Where space is tight, the company has assured Your Union that they will work with us to make dual purpose rooms available. We’ve also asked the employer to make sure Quiet Rooms have mats and/or rugs provided. 

This agreement on Quiet Rooms is a major win for Superstore members, and UFCW 401 will continue to push for workplaces that are safe, inclusive, and welcoming to all members.
