Safeway Gas Bar Workers Ratify New Contract

After 8 months of bargaining, workers at the Safeway-Sobeys Gas Bars across the province have voted to accept their new Union Contract by a 78%.
It wasn’t an easy set of bargaining and a government appointed mediator was required to get the parties closer to together in order to secure a deal.
Congratulations and kudos go to the union’s negotiators, union representatives, and the members on the negotiating committee who fought hard to fend off a number of concessions that the employer was seeking.  Instead of rollbacks, there is now a new joint health and safety committee, which will work on solving concerns around working alone, along with other health and safety matters unique to the workers at the gas bars.
We tip our hat to Safeway-Sobeys Gas Bar workers for a job well-done.
