Your Union Bargaining Committee met and continued bargaining with the Company on July 20 and 21, 2021. During this time there were discussions on vacation scheduling, overtime, and work schedules. While discussions on these items are ongoing, your committee was able to come to tentative agreements on a large number of housekeeping items as well as a process for addressing payroll errors.
During these 2 days there were many discussions on matters related to the continuous operations areas of the plant and your bargaining committee raised a number of concerns, brought forward from members, including the lack of backup coverage, the resistance to mutual shift changes, on-call provisions, as well as the difficulty to schedule time off during production, to name a few.
The Company also discussed the concept of alternative scheduling options for the continuous operations areas. While no specific schedules have been presented at this time, your bargaining committee will be meeting with the Company next week to hear potential options for discussion. It is our goal to hold online consultations with members of these departments during the following week (August 3-6) to discuss these options. We will post notices of the dates and times of the online consultations once we have more details.
Your Bargaining Committee has scheduled the following dates to continue bargaining:
We will keep you updated as things progress. Please feel free to reach out to your Bargaining Committee members if you have any questions.
In solidarity,
Your UFCW Local 401 Union Bargaining Committee,
Devin Yeager (Chief Negotiator),
Ryan St. Jacques, Jody McGuey, and Tyler Gillis.
