Starlight: Employer’s Final Offer & Vote Info

Your Union bargaining committee met with the Employer on October 6, 2022, where the company put forward their offer to resolve your collective agreement. The offer, linked here, is, by no standards, a Cadillac offer. Still, short of a long-protracted strike, it is one that the committee feels contains significant improvements from the company’s original concessionary position.

Make sure to read all the way to the bottom for critical voting information.

We have included a copy of the company’s original proposal package for you to review. In the document, you will note sections where the employer failed to achieve their key concessions. They did not successfully roll back your wages; your benefits are still 100% company-paid. Tips remain under the direction of the tip committee, we have not allowed the employer to take it over, and the term is only 20 months going forward.

Please review the documents carefully and ask any questions you have in advance of the vote on October 20.

Your union negotiating committee will also be on hand at the vote should you prefer to bring your questions at that time before voting.

Alternatively, call your union office to speak with Dee Mae, your Union Labour Relations Officer. You can reach Dee Mae at 780-452-0362.

The online voting platform will use a tracking system to ensure that voting credentials are only used once. Your vote will not be shared with anyone – your vote is 100% confidential. Your union will be cross-referencing in-person voting lists and online voting lists to ensure that each member only has the opportunity to vote once so the integrity of the voting process is maintained.

There will also be a support service available through Converso to assist members who have issues with online voting. Converso will send out comprehensive information about online voting to the email address we have on file for you.

Converso recommends that, where possible, you avoid using a Hotmail email address for this process, as Hotmail sometimes automatically blocks the emails you need to receive.

Please ensure we have your correct email as soon as possible.

The question on the ballot will be:
Yes – I accept the company’s offer
No – I reject the company’s offer
