CARGILL CASE READY: OUR UNION ISSUES STRIKE NOTICE

This morning, at the start of bargaining, the Union Negotiating Committee issued strike notice to the company.

The Union Negotiating Committee wanted to make sure that Cargill knew that the membership’s patience had run out, and that if they do not put an improved offer on the table, there will be a strike.

“We issued strike notice at the start of negotiation to incentivise the company to move quickly to address the needs of the membership,” said Chris O’Halloran, Executive Director for UFCW Local 401. “We have committed to the membership that we will give them time to review and vote on an improved offer coming from these two days of negotiations.”

We are meeting with the company June 20th and 21st at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel on the corner of Barlow Trail and 32 Ave Northeast.

UFCW Local 401 believes in open bargaining, so if you would like to observe negotiations, please let us know when you plan to attend so we can make sure we have seating.

We have issued strike notice for 12:01 am on Monday,July 29th. It is important that members continue to prepare. Please review the strike preparation booklet that we’ve provided and let us know if you have any questions.
