Your Union Bargaining Committee met and exchanged proposals with Trophy Foods on June 1st and 2nd, 2023. Typical of the beginning of the bargaining process, each side gave opening statements to discuss themes and future goals, followed by an exchange of proposals. It is common practice that the bargaining process starts by addressing non-monetary items before any monetary items. After some discussion, we agreed on some housekeeping items but did not discuss any significant proposals.
Under the new leadership of President Thomas Hesse and Secretary-Treasurer Richelle Stewart, and with the support of the Executive Board, the local has adopted an open and transparent approach to collective bargaining. This approach means that your Bargaining Committee will provide regular updates and create opportunities for you to be more involved as negotiations continue.
As such, we are sharing the initial proposals from your bargaining team and the company below. While these are initial positions, we are very concerned with several of the proposals that the company has tabled.
These initial proposals make it clear your Bargaining Committee will need your continued support through this challenging process to achieve a renewed Collective Agreement that you can be proud of.

Your UFCW Local 401 Union Bargaining Committee,
