The membership has voted:
In favour of accepting the terms of the tentative agreement.
This afternoon, the members at West Coast Reduction in Edmonton voted 82% in favour of accepting the terms of a tentative agreement.
Here are some highlights of the tentative agreement:
- Wage increases of 14.5 % over the life of the agreement (5 years) with 7.75% immediately upon ratification (5% for 2024 and 2.75% for 2025). This immediate increase ranges from $1.92 to $3.62 per hour upon ratification.
- 5% retro pay on all hours worked since July 1, 2024
- 2.75% increase at date of ratification plus a $1,000 (gross) signing bonus
- 2% increase on July 6, 2026
- 2% increase on July 5, 2027
- 2.75% increase on July 3, 2028
- RRSP contribution maximums increased to 7% which will be matched by the Company
- Increased bereavement leave
- Improved paramedical coverage per visit
“It’s hard to be fully satisfied with any bargaining outcomes given the challenges of the affordability crisis,” says President Thomas Hesse of UFCW Local 401. “But it’s good to see that the members at West Coast Reduction feel their needs are being met in light of the outcome of this vote. When workers come together we can make incremental and meaningful progress.”
