Since 1991, the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence campaign has been shining a light on the ongoing crisis affecting women, two spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender nonconforming people in Canada. It starts on November 25th – The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, declared by the UN in 1999. It ends on December 10th – the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Day, declared by the UN in 1948.
Organizations from around the world use these 16 days to highlight the ongoing need for changing the structures in place that contribute to this all too prevalent cycle of violence. We also reenforce our commitment to providing support for victims of gender-based violence.
Join us over the 16 days on our Facebook or Instagram pages for more information on this campaign.
