Banff IGA: Hearing Dates Set!

The Alberta Labour Relations Board (ALRB) has scheduled a hearing to address the actions of CLAC and Store owner Shawn. There will be hearings on September 24, 25, 26, and October 27, 28, 29, 30, 31.

You can find a copy of the ALRB posting here.

The ALRB will hear evidence about the conduct of CLAC leading up to and around the vote. The ALRB will then decide on whether the ballots will be counted.

UFCW Local 401 is continuing to push forward with negotiations. Unfortunately, your operator, Shawn Eltom, and Sobeys’suggested lawyer, Michael, could not give us any dates to negotiate before December of this year.

We will be meeting in Banff at the Caribou Lodge hotel on December 11 and 12 to negotiate. We are hopeful that Shawn will come prepared to address the cost-of-living issue we all know members are facing.

If you are interested in being part of the negotiating committee, please let April or Chris know. See their contact information below.

“We’re committed to transparency and to the principle that bargaining belongs to the members who live with the outcomes. While the Board does its work, we’ll keep doing ours: negotiating in good faith and inviting members to observe and participate.” –Thomas Hesse, President, UFCW Local 401

We invite any member who is interested in observing negotiations to participate. All we ask is that you let us know you are planning to attend by contacting April or Chris.

If you have any questions about negotiations or the ALRB hearing, please contact April Albrecht by phone at (403) 291-1047 ext. 1106 or by email at aabrecht@ufcw401.ab.ca. You can also reach out to Chris O’Halloran at cohalloran@ufcw401.ab.ca or by phone at (587) 999-6448.
