Cargill High River: Pre-Bargaining Update

Greetings, UFCW Local 401 members working at Cargill, High River:

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our bargaining survey and submitted proposals for a renewed collective agreement. We received a lot of important information through this part of the consultation process and some clear direction from our members on what our negotiations priorities should be.

We are also grateful to all those who have indicated that they would like to be part of the bargaining committee. As over 130 members applied to be part of our bargaining team, your Union Labour Relations Officers will be working with your Chief Shop Stewards to try to bring together a bargaining committee that represents all areas of the plant and shifts. We will also be creating bargaining sub-committees that will assist and attend the negotiations table as needed.

We feel very strongly about being open and transparent with members throughout the negotiations process and will be communicating with you through every step of this process. This will be through email, text message, and (of course) our website!

Over the coming weeks, we will be working with the bargaining committee to prepare proposals to be ready to meet with the employer, which we expect will happen in the New Year.

While it is our goal to achieve the best contract possible, we will need your support and solidarity to do so.

Please stay tuned for further updates.

In Solidarity,

Your Union Labour Relations Officers
