Hundreds of undecided Safeway members join successful virtual meeting to make up their minds on the Company offer
What a night!
Hundreds of Safeway union members joined us for our virtual meeting last night. The vast majority of members who joined the meeting had not yet voted and had not yet made up their mind how they were going to vote.
President Thomas Hesse, Secretary Treasurer Richelle Stewart, and UFCW 401 lawyer Emily Machura went over all the information out there, exploring the rationale behind voting both yes and no and identifying what is at stake with this vote.

Participating members were extremely engaged and asked intelligent and probing questions about the Company offer.
Safeway workers were suspicious about why Sobeys has been trying to bully and intimidate Safeway workers into accepting an offer that benefits the Company but short-changes senior Safeway employees and leaves thousands of employees still working their way up the wage scales with no increases whatsoever.
