International Women’s Day in Alberta-Join the Festivities!
Every year on March 8th we celebrate International Women’s Day and it’s nearly here! Starting this weekend there are loads of opportunities to celebrate the contributions of women in our world.
All across the province there are events that might interest you or others you may know. Please share this information far and wide and celebrate with us this year on International Women’s Day in your area! We hope to see you all at one or more of these wonderful events!

Bow Valley
If you’re in the Bow Valley area on March 8th, the YWCA Banff invites you to celebrate International Women’s Day at their 3rd annual Bow Valley Women of Distinction Awards. The Change Makers celebration will present three extraordinary women leaders in the community with the 3rd annual Bow Valley Women of Distinction Awards.
Edmonton
Come out for a rally and march this Sunday, March 5th at 1 p.m. Starting at Sir Winston Churchill Square, this event will feature several inspiring speakers as well as music and singing. Refreshments will be on hand. As with all IWD events, the whole family is welcome and will find something fun to interest them. Check out all the details HERE
After the rally and march in the afternoon, don’t miss out on the Wine, Women & Song event March 5th! This will be a joyful, fun filled evening celebration! Music is provided by Dale Ladouceur and Bev Fowler: The Ancient Jammers. Your ticket includes a variety of scrumptious food, including vegetarian-friendly and gluten-free options from The Needle’s kitchen as well as TWO drink tickets. A cash bar will be available.
On March 8th, we are all invited to celebrate IWD with an IWD Banquet and Speakers Forum at Maharaja Banquet Hall. Tickets are only $10 but don’t delay as they are only on sale until March 6th.
Calgary
Another March 8th event is the IWD Be Bold For Change Potluck & Celebration dinner at the Women’s Centre in Calgary. Everyone is invited to bring along their favourite dish to share and try out all the other tasty contributions brought by others.
