Let’s talk about healthcare!

We might be really well-known as the union for Alberta’s food workers, but with 32,000 members across the province, UFCW Local 401 is actually one of the most diverse unions in Alberta, with members working in not only food processing and retail stores but also healthcare, education, and much more.

We know how difficult times have been for all UFCW Local 401 members, especially with layoffs and looming cuts to healthcare and education in the public sector and the ever-present pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Essential” as we are, things have been really tough.

Now more than ever we are working to bring together our members from across all sectors of the Alberta economy. As working Albertans, we face many of the same challenges but in different ways. Dealing with those challenges always starts with talking about them.

That conversation has to start with hearing from you and fellow UFCW Local 401 members working in healthcare!

That’s why we’re really excited to let you know about a special event happening this week.

Together, your Local 401 leadership will be broadcasting live from Bethany CollegeSide, a long-term care facility in Red Deer where UFCW Local 401 members provide support to residents in a variety of ways. We’re inviting all our healthcare members from across Alberta to participate!

As your union’s leadership, we will lead a discussion and a live question and answer period exclusively for members working in healthcare through the online platform Zoom.

If you are able to join us, please write to mhughes@ufcw401.ab.ca for the details! We’d really love to see you there!

In Solidarity,

Thomas Hesse,
President, UFCW Local 401

Richelle Stewart,
Secretary-Treasurer, UFCW Local 401
