Cargill Case Ready Members:
We will be meeting across the street at the Holiday Inn today and Thursday, July 4th:
Holiday Inn & Suites Calgary Airport North
20 Freeport PIace NE, Calgary, AB T3J 0T6
Meetings will start at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm on both days
The ratification vote will take place on Monday, July 8th at the plant. Members will be able to vote in the Training Room from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be an e-mail vote for anyone who is not able to vote in person on Tuesday, July 9th from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm.
Your Bargaining Committee believes that the company’s offer will be better than a strike. If you are planning to vote no, it is important that you are preparing to strike, so please bring any of your questions about the strike and strike preparation to the ratification meeting.
We had a great photo shoot at our last Cargill Case-Ready meeting. We will be asking members to share their stories about why they are planning to strike in short video clips at this week’s meetings. Please think about what story you would like to share and bring those ideas to whichever meeting you attend.
“This will be the membership’s decision,” said UFCW Local 401 President Thomas Hesse. “You have heard the recommendation from the Bargaining Committee, but ultimately it is your choice if you wish to strike.”
Added President Hesse: “We will be prepared to support our members whatever they choose, but people should make sure to get all the answers to their questions before voting.”
If you have any questions before the meetings, please contact Alain (e-mail: calgary.relief2@ufcw401.ab.ca), Devin (e-mail: dyeager@ufcw401.ab.ca, cell: 403-680-4184), or Chris O’Halloran (e-mail: cohalloran@ufcw401.ab.ca, cell: 587-999-6448).
In solidarity, Your UFCW Local 401 Union Bargaining Committee
