On Saturday, August 27th UFCW 401 and the Real Canadian Superstore jointly hosted a Lunch & Learn in the Lloydminster Superstore. The event, being only the 2nd ever of its kind for Superstore members, was well received by all who attended.
The Store Manager Randy came in on his day off to cook hot dogs and turned the cooking over to the Assistant Manager Sam throughout the afternoon, There were also other Supervisors eager to pitch in to ensure that no one went home hungry. In addition to the amazing barbecued delectables, there were also plenty of chips on hand for snacking.
401 was proud to offer two cakes for the crowd. One designated for the night crew staff, and a number of gluten free options from the in-store bakery that would satisfy any sweet tooth!
Special thanks to Shop Steward Shelly Welz for creating the posters for the event and the input she had that contributed to the success of the event. A further thank you to Shop Steward Erin Alyward for her creative efforts in ensuring that everyone who entered the lunchroom had a chance to participate in the fun event. Union Organizer Catherine Lelis and Union Senior Labour Relations Officer Laura Lowrie were on hand to provide members with important information regarding their benefits, including the exciting and FREE webCampus courses, which start up again in September.
Members eagerly filled out a fun questionnaire during the Lunch & Learn and were then provided with a giveaway for their participation. All members who returned their completed questionnaires were entered into a draw for UFCW 401 jackets and three other gift cards.
Members are looking forward to the next Lunch & Learn gathering in their store. We extend a big shout out to Superstore for being a co-sponsor for the event. Together we ensured members are able to take full advantage of all the benefits of working at Superstore and being a member of Alberta’s most dynamic union!
