I Have A Chance Support Services employees will now have the choice to join our UFCW family. IHAC employees have courageously stood up for their best interests by signing an overwhelming number of union cards!
On May 20, 2021, we applied for a certification process to have IHAC employees join UFCW Local 401.
IHAC employee’s work in roughly 20 different supported living homes. The employees provide a very important role in our society, ensuring citizens get the help they need when they need it most. Their work demands very long hours while addressing significant health and safety issues. There are other issues and concerns with the work, but we will discuss them in the future.
UFCW Local 401 is looking forward to engaging IHAC employees and having them join our union via a mail-in ballot vote! We want to work with the employees of IHAC, along with Company representatives, to improve the workplace and ensure the employees get what they need.
UFCW Local 401 is the largest private sector union in Western Canada, with over 32,000 members in a variety of industries. We are an open and democratic union committed to improving our members’ lives in numerous ways, including negotiating high-quality union contracts and creating better working conditions with dignity and respect.
It will take a little time to negotiate IHAC employees’ first contract. But the wait is worth it as IHAC employees will be protected with job security and rights through their union once we complete a successful vote.
We would like to congratulate IHAC employees on beginning this important and valuable process. UFCW Local 401 is eagerly anticipating adding IHAC employees to our strong union family!
