Onsite Tutorials of webCampus at Civeo Camps Spark Interest

Union Walking Steward Juanita O’Reilly was on hand recently to offer tutorials to members at Athabasca Lodge and Beaver River Executive Lodge and the members liked what they saw.

UFCW Canada’s educational opportunities through webCampus have proved to be a real asset for hundreds of UFCW members across the country who have taken some of the courses.

Completely free to UFCW members and their family, webCampus offers a diverse selection of courses for those who are interested in furthering their education. From computer courses, to health and safety or labour studies, to flower arranging and other skills development courses, webCampus has something to interest everyone.

webCampus is growing and expanding every single year. In fact, they have just recently partnered with Athabasca University for a transfer credit program, which is very exciting because members and their families can receive university credit at no cost through webCampus.

Juanita set up several different times over two days on September 10th and 11th at Athabasca and BREL lodges so people had a choice on when to come out. She sat down with those who turned up and toured the site with them, exploring all the different courses. Most popular were the computer courses among those who participated – Word and Excel. They walked through how to register and explored the different certifications available.

We hope that word spreads for the next tutorials Juanita will be setting up. Stay tuned for details on those tutorials by watching your union bulletin board.
