Sobeys Rolls Out People Portal

Sobeys has been developing a new, interactive employee online portal for Safeway workers. Their current Employee Self Service (ESS) site was primarily used to access online courses required or offered by the company. They are now moving toward a more all-encompassing site called the “People Portal”. 

From the People Portal, employees will be able to:

  • Update personal employee information quickly and easily, such as your name, language of choice, emergency contact information, and banking details
  • Immediately download pay statements, income tax documents (T4s), and employment verification letters
  • Upload any required government documents such as work permits and Social Insurance Numbers
  • Review job postings and other opportunities
  • Search for available courses

This is already underway, but not yet fully functional. Important dates to keep in mind are:

February 22 to March 22 – Employees will receive training on the People Portal

March 11 to March 22 – While the changeover is occurring, there may be some interruptions on the People Portal or limits on functionality

March 22 – ESS will be decommissioned and all functionality on People Portal will go live.
