David worked at Safeway and and North Central Co-op (former Safeway Millwood’s Town Centre) for an incredible half century, working in grocery, dairy, and as an Assistant Manager. He was also very active in the 75 day, province wide, Safeway strike in 1997 where he served as picket captain.
“He is one of the most friendly, union strong members whom I have had the opportunity to work with over the last 8 years,” Union Rep Cheryl tells us.
Like many others in his store, he has decided this is the right time to retire after Safeway closes the doors of North Central Co-op. We are deeply saddened by the loss of so many amazing members but we are excited for David and his new journey. One that will involve some of his favourite activities like, woodworking, painting, and getting more involved in his church.
One to always lend a hand, David also has plans to help with some renovation projects for friends, as well as working on his own home.
Congratulations, David. We wish you all the very best in your retirement, and thank you for your invaluable contributions to your coworkers over the years.
