Mary Chan – Retirement

After an impressive 54 years as a cashier at Safeway, Mary is excited to begin her well-earned retirement. Not only is she dedicated to her job, Mary is also dedicated to her co-workers and making her company a better place by supporting her union. We are so proud to say that she walked both of her picket lines (the brief strike in the ’70s, as well as the 75 day strike in 1997).

In addition to her care for her workplace community, she was also very involved in charitable work that serves the broader community of which we’re all a part. She was #1 in 3 separate charity drives at her store and was also awarded the status of #1 fundraiser in all of Alberta!

Mary tells us that she is planning a move to be closer to her family and we are thrilled she will have more time to spend with them and do all she wants to do with her free time.

Congratulations, Mary! May you have a wonderful, healthy, and happy retirement.
