Superstore Negotiations Update – Bargaining training begins

Superstore Negotiation Team Training Hosted Online

April 27 through to May 1, 2020, we will be hosting a full meeting of the members of the UFCW Local 401 Superstore Negotiating Team for the first time. This event, hosted online, will have 27 attendees.

“During these five days, Superstore members will gain specific training for the face-to–screen, collective bargaining with Loblaw,” Remarked UFCW Local 401 Executive Director, Chris O’Halloran. “During the time of this unique global challenge, we have been using these technological solutions with our Safeway bargaining, and I have found them to be remarkably productive.”

Besides the new technology we’ll be using to communicate, a large part of the focus will be on making sure the Negotiation Team can review and refine all proposals before distribution to the membership.

“During the COVID-19 crisis, we will continue to make sure that the negotiation process is open and transparent,” said Secretary-Treasurer Richelle Stewart. “Members can expect to be surveyed and communicated with more than ever during this set of negotiations.”

With a well-prepared Negotiating Team, we will negotiate hard and push Loblaw to improve the working condition at Superstore. We plan to negotiate through the summer and get Loblaw to agree to a new contract as soon as possible.

All of this is for the final preparations for our very first date for this set of negotiations with Loblaw from May 11 to May 13, 2020.
