Athabasca re-opening cancelled
Here is an update for the Civeo Athabasca location. Unfortunately as of Friday March 6th, United Food and Commercial Workers was notified that the temporary opening of the Athabasca site was no longer going to happen. The initial report was to have a Ramp up starting March 8th that would have an opening for a short period starting in April for Shell Clients.
A meeting was set up on Wednesday March 4th between Civeo and UFCW 401 President Douglas O’ Halloran, Were your Union was working diligently with Civeo (formally PTI) to secure extended Recall rights for our members who currently are on Layoff from the initial closing of the Lodge last year.
Regrettably Civeo informed your Union, that Shell had pulled out of the bid, forcing the Company to put a halt on the reopening. This will impact on the Recall rights of many of our long standing members. Without question UFCW 401 is not pleased with the news brought forward by Civeo. We will keep our website updated with any and all future developments at the Athabasca Lodge.
