POWER IN UNITY This Labour Day, we prepare for the fight ahead!

As we approach Labour Day, we take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day, not just a long weekend, but a time to honour the struggles, victories, and future of working people in Alberta and across Canada.

Labour Day is a reminder that the wages, rights, and benefits we enjoy today were not given, they were won through solidarity, action, and the courage of working people standing together.

THE FIGHT AHEAD
In the coming months, UFCW Local 401 will be entering major bargaining tables across Alberta. With negotiations approaching in key sectors, including grocery and meatpacking, this Labour Day carries more weight than ever.

We know what we’re up against: multi-million-dollar corporations that continue to post record profits while trying to squeeze more out of workers: cutting hours, driving up workloads, and resisting fair wage increases and benefit improvements.

But here’s what they underestimate: our unity, our voice, and our power.

PUTTING WORKERS FIRST
As the cost of living continues to rise, 401 members deserve more: better wages, stronger benefits, safer workplaces, and the respect that comes with the essential work you do every single day.

UNITED, WE WIN
As we gather with friends, family, and fellow workers this Labour Day, let’s remember that our strength lies not in any one individual but in our collective action.

We are proud of our history, but our eyes are on the future. Every bargaining table we approach, we do so with the power of 32,000 members behind us.

Solidarity isn’t just a word. It’s our power. It’s our path forward. And together, we are unstoppable.
