Your union knows it’s been a really stressful few weeks for Safeway workers.
Your Company is not treating you like teammates. They’ve hung you out to dry. Sometimes, all you want is for someone to extend a helping hand.
That’s what we’re doing!
Did you know that formal negotiations with the Company will be restarting? The stakes have gotten even higher. Employees are angrier than ever.
It’s time to come together and bargain stronger than ever. We need a better contract!
A formal notice to bargain can be served as early as April. Sobeys will be required to meet with a Bargaining Committee made up of your co-workers to discuss changes to your contract.
From wages to working conditions, benefits to retirement bonuses, everything will be on the table.
That’s a lot different than what early bargaining looked like back in December! There will be a variety of legal obligations that the Company did not have to confront at that time. But they will now.
We need to hear your input on the priorities you want us to focus on. Whether you’ve filled this survey out already or not, give us your thoughts and be entered into a draw to win free groceries at a time when you could most use them.
Sobeys’ prices are high, and their revenues and profits have skyrocketed. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to afford to shop where you work?
Sobeys may be focused on rolling your wages back and trying to convince you to repay increases they previously agreed to, but your union is focused on having your back and protecting you.
Already, the Company has retreated somewhat under union pressure. Sobeys now admits that they cannot collect money from you on their own or garnish your wages.
JUST SAY NO!
We’ll keep fighting the Company on their attempts to claw and roll back your wages. And we’ll have more updates about those efforts coming soon!
