VLRA Workers Showing Union Pride

When members at Vision Loss Rehabilitation Alberta joined UFCW Local 401, and subsequently negotiated an enviable first Union Contract this spring, there was a great deal of pride among the membership for all they had accomplished together for themselves.

Angela Sims-Magyor, seen here happily hanging her UFCW 401 Union decal in her workplace, is one of those proud new members.  A relatively new employee with VLRA, Angela is a Service Coordinator who manages the intake of new clients and refers them to services best suited to assist in their daily lives.  Additionally, she maintains contact with existing clients for follow up support.

Having never belonged to a union before, she is thrilled with improvements to sick pay and other protected rights she and her coworkers were able to achieve together in negotiations with their employer.

“It’s nice to have everything in writing and guaranteed,” Angela says.  “I look forward to being part of the 401 family.”

Thanks to Angela for showing her Union Pride, and welcome to all VLRA employees across the province. We are equally proud to have each one of you in the 401 family!
