Your Union Bargaining Committee met and continued discussions with the Company on October 6 and 7, 2025. While it is still early in bargaining, there have been good and open discussions on a number of nonmonetary items. We have reached tentative agreements on some housekeeping and administrative updates, and new language including the grievance procedure, employee rights, and technological change. These tentative agreements are subject to the approval (ratification) of the membership at the end of the bargaining process.
While the tone of bargaining has been largely collaborative and positive in nature, we have not yet had serious discussions on any monetary items. We anticipate starting monetary discussions in our next meeting with the Company.
As we are seeing across the province and country from workers in all different industries, expectations of an acceptable offer are higher than they may have been in the past. With the cost of groceries, rent, utilities, gas and just about everything else rising exponentially, the expectations of the membership are high as they are getting squeezed in every direction. Offers that may have been traditionally accepted by members – prior to the pandemic and the inflationary crisis – are being rejected across the country in large numbers. Just in the last month we have seen negotiations come to a head with teachers, flight attendants, and postal workers – to name a few – as these workers stand up for what they feel is right.
While we do not yet know where monetary discussions with Alberta Distillers are going to go, your Bargaining Committee is going to need your strength and solidarity, now more than ever, to ensure that your demands are heard and your needs are met. Now is the time to be united and stand together.
Your Bargaining Committee has scheduled the following dates to continue discussions with the Company:
We will keep you updated as things progress. Please feel free to reach out to your Bargaining Committee members if you have any questions.
In Solidarity,
Your Union
