“This first round of bargaining was constructive and helped lay important groundwork for the discussions ahead,”said Merryn Edwards de la O. “We were able to reach agreement on several housekeeping items in the collective agreement, along with improvements and clarifications related to union representation, the grievance procedure, health and safety obligations, and joint committee composition. There is still significant work to do around monetary issues, workload, and staffing concerns, and we look forward to continuing those discussions when bargaining resumes in May.”
The employer has not yet presented proposals related to wages, benefits, or other monetary improvements. Your union negotiating committee is also continuing discussions on key member concerns, including workload and staffing levels.
There is still significant work ahead, but negotiations are moving forward.
The parties are scheduled to return to the bargaining table on May 13 & 14.
Your union will continue providing updates throughout the bargaining process.
