Maple Leaf: Strike Vote & Continued Bargaining

We hope you are doing well and staying strong as we come to this critical moment in our negotiations. As a crucial part of our collective bargaining process, we urge you to join in the upcoming strike vote scheduled for:

Sunday, January 7th, 2024
from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Four Points by Sheraton,
Edmonton South,
7230 Argyll Rd NW

Why Your Vote Matters:

This strike vote is an essential step in getting a fair contract.

It does not mean a strike is inevitable; instead, it empowers your bargaining committee with the leverage needed to negotiate effectively on your behalf.

A strong turnout sends a clear message to our employer about our unity and resolve.

Ongoing Negotiations:

We also want to assure you that the bargaining process is active and ongoing. Your bargaining committee is already scheduled to meet with the employer on Thursday and Friday next week at the same location. These sessions demonstrate our commitment to continuing negotiations and reaching an agreement that reflects your hard work and dedication.

Your Role and Our Unity:

Your involvement is crucial. By casting your vote, you are standing in solidarity with your fellow members and reinforcing the strength of our collective voice. The outcome of the vote will play a vital role in the ongoing negotiations, and we commit to keeping you informed at every step.

We understand there may be concerns or questions regarding the strike vote and the negotiation process. If you have any questions, please contact your Union Labour Relations Officer, Matt Gilks, at 587-990-2004 or by email at mgilks@ufcw401.ab.ca

Let’s remain united in securing a contract that honours our collective efforts and contributes to a better future for every member of Maple Leaf Poultry.

We appreciate your participation, support, and the trust you place in us.
